Meditation Class
Hummingbird’s Recovery Yoga Program is geared to assist those in the recovery community as they heal from such issues as drug/alcohol addiction, eating disorders, PTSD, anxiety/depression and grief. Through movement, meditation, and kinship, we work together to find inner sanctuary.

We invite anyone affected by the above issues to join us as we recognize that healing and connection is important not only for the afflicted, but also for those who love them.

We are happy you have found us.  Welcome.

Trauma-Sensitive Yoga for Women

Trauma often results in anxiety, depression and behavioral, health and relationship issues. We begin with pranayama (breath control), bringing the student into a space of self-regulation. A mindful yoga practice follows and the class concludes with a guided meditation during savasana.

Our instructors at Hummingbird are “trauma-informed” and recognize the different types of trauma present in a person’s life. Through trauma-sensitive yoga, students will learn to feel at home in their bodies, leading to stability, heightened self-esteem and healthy relationships with themselves and others.

If you have any questions about this class and whether it would be helpful for you, please feel free to email the instructor Deanna Marshall at Deannabmarshall@gmail.com

Refuge Recovery is a mindfulness-based addiction recovery community that practices and utilizes Buddhist philosophy as the foundation of the recovery process. Those struggling with any form of addiction greatly benefit when they are able to understand the suffering that addiction has created while developing compassion for the pain they have experienced. Our weekly peer-led meetings include guided meditations, readings from the book Refuge Recovery, as well as group sharing and discussion. We are open to people of all backgrounds and respectful of all recovery paths. These meetings are appropriate for anyone in, or interested in, recovery from any forms of addictive behavior. No prior meditation experience necessary. We hope to serve you, and meet you on the path.
