Why are facials so necessary?

Our skin is the largest organ of our body and the organ that experiences change every single day. A staggering amount of environmental pollution, dirt, oil and dead skin accumulates on our skin everyday, and unfortunately, our cleansing routine at home/technique is not as effective as we might think. Having a licensed professional examine your skin and customize a treatment that is personal for you, is crucial to the health of your skin and overall well being.

A facial is more than just some cucumbers on your eyes and some moisturizing cream on your face. A facial is a deep cleaning of your skin from forehead to decclotee. The 5 main components of a good facial are:

  • Precleanse

  • Examine

  • 2nd Cleanse

  • Tone

  • Exfoliate (physical or chemical)

  • Extractions

  • Facial Massage

  • Mask

  • Serums/Treatments

  • Moisturize

  • SPF

  • Eye cream

  • Product Recommendations (At home regimen)

Your skin and pores are deep cleaned at a level that the naked eye can not see. The Hummingbird facial is a targeted, results driven and personal experience.

At Hummingbird, we only use the best.  That is why we chose Eminence Organic Skin Care as the product line that will be used for all of our facials and treatments. EOS is a results driven, human grade, environmentally friendly, and potent product line that speaks for itself. EOS was awarded the “Best Skin Care Line” 11 years in a row, with many other awards before and after.

  • Your skin feels dry and tight

  • Sometimes you can see flakes on your cheeks, chin and forehead

  • Fine lines may be present around your eye and lip contour areas

It is important to use moisture-rich products such as a daytime moisturizer, and a moisturizing treatment at night to repair your skin while you sleep. Weekly moisturizing masks will keep your skin soft and supple and will reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Your skin is best described as well-balanced. It has even moisture and hydration, uniform texture and minimal sensitivity. While your skin may show slight variations in oiliness and dryness, it does not endure persistent skin concerns or conditions. To keep your skin even and toned, a good skin care routine including cleansing and moisturizing is a must.

  • Your skin is both dry and oily

  • With more active oil glands in your T-zone, you tend to exhibit the characteristics of oily skin on your chin, nose and forehead and normal-to-dry skin on your cheeks, jawline and hairline

The best approach for combination skin is to address the needs of each area individually. Use different skin care products and techniques to control excess oil in your T-zone and replenish moisture elsewhere.

  • Your skin is shiny

  • Visible pores and is prone to spots and blemishes

  • Makeup seems to slide off your skin as soon as it is applied

  • Oily skin has the benefit of not showing lines easily

  • Needs to be maintained to help prevent breakouts and to control shine.

  • Your skin has fine pores

  • Can be easily irritated and is prone to redness

  • Sensitive skin is often genetic and can also react to poor diet, changes in weather, hormonal imbalance and certain cosmetic products.

Sensitive skin must be treated with the correct skin care products that are gentle and soothing to heal your skin and relieve your symptoms.

Acne can affect skin at any range, from adolescent to adult. Acne is usually characterized by oily to normal skin that has consistent breakouts, congestion, reactive and inflamed.

  • Environmental pollution

  • Unbalanced diet

  • Stress

  • Overproduction of sebum

  • Hormonal fluctuations

Rosacea often shows on the nose, cheeks, forehead and chin. This is caused by inflamed capillaries on the skin's surface that gives it a red, bumpy and blotchy appearance.

  • Hot liquids

  • Alcohol

  • The sun

  • Extreme temperatures

  • Alcohol dense and harsh skincare

The most noticeable signs of aging are sagging skin and wrinkles. Natural decrease in collagen production makes the skin less plump and firm.

Defined by the appearance of dark spots, freckles, scarring or an uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation can affect any skin type and has a large spectrum of severity. Identified by an increase in melanin production in the skin, it is a universal skin condition.

  • Environmental factors

  • Stress

  • Aging

  • Post-inflammatory pigmentation

Protecting your skin from future damage with SPF and seek products and treatments specifically designed to fade dark spots and hyperpigmentation.

Pores are used by the body to distribute skin-softening sebum (commonly referred to as “oil”). While everyone has visible pores, some naturally produce more oil, resulting in larger pores. Sebum oxidizes when it reaches the skin’s surface, causing pores to become visible and appear larger.

Pore size may increase with age as the skin loses elasticity. With regular cleansing and gentle exfoliation, sebum is removed from the skin’s surface, resulting in less visible pores.
